One of our favorite holiday traditions is cozying up in our living room, snuggling underneath a blanket with a glass of mulled wine and yummy s'mores while watching a lesbian holiday movie.

But if you’re familiar with the lesbian movie landscape, then you’ll know that there aren’t too many great lesbian holiday movies to choose from, but thankfully, there are still a handful of heartwarming and well-made ones that we can all enjoy.

Here’s our list of must-watch lesbian holiday movies this season. Bonus: they all feature happy endings! 🌈

1. Happiest Season

Happiest Season Best Lesbian Holiday Movies

I’m a sucker for rom coms and there can never be too many cute lesbian rom-coms. The Happiest Season is the latest lesbian holiday movie released on this list. The storyline of the movie is pretty straightforward–a young woman plans to propose to her girlfriend at her family's annual holiday party but discovers that her partner hasn't come out to her conservative parents–but lesbian goddess, Kristen Stewart, stars in it. So there you go.

This is one of our favorite lesbian movies of all time and we could watch Carol any day of the year (in fact, we’ve probably watched it at least 20 times now and counting…), but the actual movie plot does take place over the Christmas holidays. The story centers around the beautiful relationship that develops between Therese (Rooney Mara) and Carol (Cate Blanchett) in 1950s New York.

4. Love, Classified

Love, Classified Holiday Movies

We were pleasantly surprised that this movie was made by Hallmark and was actually well done! While there are several storylines occurring that aren't all about a lesbian romance, the two female characters (including Arienne Mandi from the L Word Generation Q) who play love interests have great chemistry and a sweet love story that makes you root for them the entire time. The premise of the movie centers around a romance novelist who returns home after a long absence to reconnect with her children as they start to find their own paths to love. It's definitely one of those feel-good movies that's heartwarmingly cheesy but you could enjoy watching over and over again.

5. Looking for Her

Looking for Her Holiday Lesbian Movie

Looking for Her is one of those lighthearted, happy ending movies with a fun and more unique premise than your typical lesbian movie. The story focuses on the main character, Taylor who is guilt-tripped by her family to go home for the holidays with her girlfriend. But there's one little problem... Taylor and her girlfriend broke up! Not wanting her parents to know, Taylor hires an actress to pose as her girlfriend where things get interesting as their chemistry grows into something more than just acting.

Christmas at the Ranch Lesbian Holiday Movie

Christmas at the Ranch is a heartwarming lesbian rom com that takes place in a small town over the holidays. The main gay lady, Haley Hollis, is a successful VP at a tech startup in the city when she is suddenly forced to return home to her family ranch to help save it from foreclosure. Of course, the ranch hand is an attractive woman named Kate and sparks fly between the two. There's the usual conflict that happens in the movie but the two leading ladies share a lot of screen time together and we love it! Plus, it has a sweet ending.

7. Season of Love

Season of Love Best Lesbian Holiday Movies

Season of Love is like the cheesier, gay version of Love Actually. The best part is that it features our fan favorite, queer actress Dominique Provost-Chalkley, who also plays Waverly Earp from Wynonna Earp and has one of the cutest lesbian ships ever (#Wayhaught) on TV with Officer Nicole Haught. Anyways, I digress. Season of Love is lighthearted indie rom com featuring a diverse cast of women and their love lives during Christmas and New Years.

8. Imagine Me & You

This isn’t truly a Christmas/holiday movie, but it takes place over the fall/winter and gives you all the holiday season feels. It’s also one of the first truly well-done lesbian rom coms ever made and is on every lesbian’s must-watch list. It’s a lighthearted movie with a happy ending and features both Lena Headey (Cersei from Game of Thrones) and Piper Perabo (also in the lesbian movie, Lost & Delirious). Both are gorgeous and have so much chemistry on screen that you'll just fall in love with them both.
